Grappling Theory

What is it?

This class is an in-depth study of grappling theory. The student will learn the names of wrestling and grappling moves, proper and effective techniques needed to take down an opponent and the proper body mechanics needed to lift, fall and grapple an individual in armor with as little risk of injury as possible.

What should a student expect from this class?

Students should expect to sweat and exert themselves physically. This will be a physical class, so it is recommended that students bring a water bottle and do not eat heavily before class. Students will be throwing each other onto the mats. This activity may result in bumps, bruises and sore muscles.

What equipment is needed from the Student for this class?

  • Gi
  • Dedicated indoor gym shoes (wrestling shoes preferably)
  • Rash guard
  • Shin guard
  • Groin protector
  • Water bottle

What is the goal of this class?

The goal for this class is to prepare all students for combat, grappling, and how to take down the opponent and win melees.
