Practical Grappling

What is it?

This class is the practical application of grappling, practiced in a supervised and controlled mongolian wrestling pit setting. Student will practice techniques learned in “Grappling Theory” Class, experience and gain confidence in takedowns, defenses and the clinch.

What should a student expect from this class?

Students should expect to sweat and exert themselves physically. This will be a physical class, so it is recommended that students bring a water bottle and do not eat heavily before class. Students will be throwing each other to the mats. This activity may result in bumps, bruises and sore muscles.

What equipment is needed from the Student for this class?

  • Gi
  • Dedicated indoor gym shoes (wrestling shoes preferably)
  • Rash guard
  • Shin guard
  • Groin protector

Fingernails and toenails are required to be kept short for safety.

What is the goal of this class?

The goal for this class is to prepare all students for combat, grappling, and how to take down the opponent and win melees.
